about
The Sound of Chimteka is an intercultural music project combining rural African singing with modern electronic music. All field recordings were made in Mchinji, Malawi the project region of the german based NGO Kumanga e.V. During a two week trip in the rural areas of Mchinji, Cassiel – co-founder of the Duesseldorf based label “candomblé” joined the Kumanga e.V. and recorded over 10 full acapella songs and multiple, unique and brilliant field recordings with the church choir of Chimteka Village.
Sound of Chimteka is an open source, social music project.
It invites everyone to take part and create something new and beautiful with the help of his/her own creativity and pure beauty and power of the singing of the African choir.
Every produced song will be released by the Kumanga e.V. and all profits go to the clean water projects in Mchinji, Malawi.
Duesseldorf based Producer Coco Drummel contributes his first ever release to this intercultural music project. With warm and well-balanced synthesizer sounds he creates a nice, groovy anthem on 90 bpm.
Already featured in candomblés Red Light Radio Show with over 7000 views Amarena is a promising start for a grassroots, community based social music project to bring African music to the world and clean water to the people.
